Spring Azure (Celastrina ladon)

This is one of the first butterflies seen in spring. It rarely lands with its wings open, so you only see the bright blue color in flight. This one took me about ten minutes to photograph. They rarely stay still!

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus)

This beauty is one of the most familiar butterflies in the eastern United States. The male has four “tiger” stripes on each wing. Females usually have more blue coloration on their wings. My daughter spotted this one!
